At Emu, we try our hardest to live by two core values. We strive to deliver high quality work to our clients – every time. And secondly, we value our community.
We want nothing more to support our community in more ways than just great pipes.
We’ve been supporting the Brisbane community with sponsorships and partnerships since we first launched the business 11 years ago. We’ve supported schools, sporting teams and local business – and we’re thrilled to support another great organisation.
We’ve recently developed a partnership with Change for Youth Foundation. An organisation dedicated to creating a better life for kids in foster care.
Why Change for Youth Foundation?
Change for Youth Foundation is a Brisbane based not-for-profit organisation founded in 2016 working hard to create a better life for children who have experienced hardships beyond their years and are currently in long-term foster care.
Every child deserves the chance to feel safe, supported, and successful at school – and at life. But for young people growing up in foster, kinship, or residential care, that path can be steep. The trauma of early life experiences, combined with the uncertainty of constantly changing homes and schools, often makes it hard for them to settle, learn, and thrive.
Without intervention, these kids face higher rates of school exclusion, lower academic achievement, and a greater risk of disadvantage that can last a lifetime.
But with the right intervention, at the right time, we can rewrite that story. That’s why early, intensive, trauma-informed support changes everything.
That’s where Empower Youth Program comes in.
Empower Youth Program
This is more than just a tutoring program – it’s a lifeline. A spark. A second chance. It’s our way of saying to each child, “You matter. You’re capable. And you are not alone.”
This program delivers intensive, one-on-one educational support to children who have experienced trauma and are living in out-of-home care. The approach is gentle, trauma-informed, and grounded in relationship and trust.
Each child is paired with a dedicated Learning Support Mentor who meets them where they are – emotionally, academically, and personally. Together, they build connection, confidence, and progress. The program is a “4-term” minimum program designed to build strong relationships, collaboration to make a measurable difference in a young person’s life.
The focus of the Empower Youth Program is on helping young people catch up in the classroom through building confidence, self esteem and a belief in themselves.
How Can You Help?
Change for Youth Foundation needs the help of committed volunteers and corporate sponsorship to help more children in long-term foster care in Queensland. There is opportunity to expand programs, offer more camps and cases to children.
